This Week
Team Goal: Assemble physical product and improve performance through testing
Personal Goal: 3D print enclosure and assemble system
The first thing I accomplished this week was to 3D print the enclosure! I had to modify some of the tolerances on the tabs in order to get the snap-fit to work just right, but the two pieces fit together perfectly and the matrix display is securely held in place. The snap fit is secure but loose enough to pull apart when needed.
Unfortunately, I am still waiting for some heat-set inserts and brass standoffs to arrive so I could not fully assemble the unit, but I was able to confirm the fit for all the components.
I also drew the card outlines on a piece of paper that I attached to the matrix to more clearly delineate which cards are being illuminated. Partly because I didn't want to waste a whole sheet of paper for this, but primarily out of spite, I cut it out from a parking ticket envelope:
The heat-set inserts and standoffs should arrive in the next couple days so I will be able to secure the OpenMV board in place. Besides that, the only remaining assembly is soldering the four connector wires for the matrix.
This Week
Team Goal: Prepare and practice final presentation
Personal Goal: Finish assembly and integration of set-finding + displaying code with classification code, record demo, and practice presentation.
Next week once assembly is complete I will finish the remaining bit of code integration so that we can record a demo of our final product as part of our final presentation.
